Mont Caly to the Belvedere - Accessible Snowshoeing Walk

A snowy road leads directly to the Mont-Caly alpine pasture from the car park that is in a beautiful hamlet near the Chèvrerie Les Félires. Taking the gentle path up is a great way to warm up before enjoying a hot chocolate at the high-altitude restaurant Les Chevrelles for a quick break, before setting off to explore with your Nordic equipment. If you are planning on eating lunch there, know that you can find some incredible local specialties. It's hard to resist their potato 'rapins', a real treat!

Afterwards, take the path toward the Mont-Chéry lift that takes you to the southern balconies of this impressive mountain that looks down on Les Gets from a great height. As you walk, keep an eye out for the magnificent Mont-Blanc mountain range. A stroll for the most enjoyable half-day of winter, with white as far as the eye can see. With its switchbacks between coniferous forests and snowy fields, the path is a delightful invitation to nature.

The walk culminates with the arrival at the Belvedere of the Mont-Chery lift. Offering a 180° view over the village, it's the perfect spot to take the time to enjoy some well-deserved relaxation. With its sunny terrace and menu with local specialties and snacks, the Belvedere restaurant is a popular destination for gourmets. This would be the perfect time to eat a snack or to refresh yourself before crossing the same route as the outward journey. You'll be amazed at the way the mountain looks from a whole new angle, even if you walk the same path back!

Towards the end of the trek, if you like, you can climb the summit of the Mont-Caly for an even greater view over the resort and its surroundings. As you return to the Mont-Caly mountain pasture, the path picks up on a small path among the chalets on the right, going up 'Dré dans l'pentu' as we say here, which means steep. Go down the same path to return to the Hamlet des Places.

Pedestrian pass holders can also adapt the walk by taking the Mont-Chéry lift in Les Gets and ending their walk at the Chevrelles mountain pasture. With a shorter route and more direct connection to the village, this option is ideal for residents who live close to the gondola or who want to join the lift via the Les Gets resort shuttle system.
