Les Gets - Snowshoeing with Daysaway Adventures

Daysaway adventures is run by two fully qualified and insured International Mountain Leaders based in Morzine, next to Les Gets. Jason and Vivien Day bring a wealth of outdoors experience to helping you safely enjoy the winter environment. They will provide the snowshoe equipment, as well as collect and return you to your chalet.

For more information please have a look at the Daysaway adventures website, or contact them for a chat about what you want to achieve on snowshoes this winter.

Snowshoes let you explore beyond the piste, to experience the mountains and forests in the wonderful peace of the winter environment and to discover the other side of the Morzine area, away from the lifts and the queues. You can frequently see wildlife that is shy of humans, such as Ibex, Bouquetin, Chamois and birds such as the Bearded Vulture. During a snowshoe adventure the guides will introduce you to the equipment and techniques if you are a beginner.  Put simply – if you can walk – you can snowshoe! It’s not an easy option though – most people say a morning of snowshoeing is a good workout.

For more experienced snowshoers instruction in additional activities is available, such as snow shelter building, wildlife and winter tree information, or even a refresher on avalanche understanding and rescue techniques. More adventurous snowshoers can explore hidden gems of the Morzine area, walking through un-tracked snow to tiny alpages and less visited mountains and valleys.

Snowshoeing is an ideal activity if the weather turns bad, and it doesn’t have to stop when the lifts stop – torchlit evening and night-time snowshoe experiences take you into beautiful sparkling snowfields and forests as the stars come out overhead. Snowshoeing keeps you warm, but after an hour or so of  invigorating fresh air it is good to retire to a cosy refuge for a traditional meal – Ideal if you have any un-catered for nights in your accommodation.
