Many of you might think that spring skiing isn’t really great, we imagine: poor quality of snow and a lack of life in the village. However there are many benefits to taking a spring ski holiday. The days are getting longer, day time temperatures higher (night time can still be just as cold) and Les Gets strategic location in the heart of Les Portes du Soleil has many benefits. Let’s have a look at everything Les Gets has to offer in Spring
After a heavy show fall Sunday night, Mark was out taking pictures yesterday. We had blue skys most of the day and the temperature was below zero, so it was a perfect day for everyone ! Bonnes vacances to all our little skiers and their parents!
We have had incredible conditions over the past few days in Les Gets. The last time conditions were this good, before the planned start to the ski season, we believe was in the 2009-10 ski season. You can see from the pictures below how good conditions are.
The new lift is high speed and was specifically designed so those new to skiing can more easily get on and off the chairs and whilst it is designed only as a replacement, it is far more efficient and comfortable.
As well as the UCI Downhill, Les Gets also hosted the UCI XCO Mountain Bike World Cup at the weekend. It was the last event, taking place on Sunday, but it certainly wasn’t the least! Competitors came from all over for one of the biggest XCO Mountain Biking Events in the world and the competition was exceptional. The excitement of the day had us gasping at times, and our hearts were in our mouths on numerous occasions.
Over the weekend, Les Gets held the second round of the Mercedes-Benz UCI Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup 2021. Competitors came from all over the globe to compete in the largest and most prestigious mountain bike event in the world, and they were no less than impressive.
Each year the Pass’Portes du Soleil marks the opening of the area’s full lift system and once again, it did not disappoint! The 17th edition of the event was held over the last two weekends, and we were so pleased to be in the centre of it here in Les Gets. The combination of 80km of varied routes, 1000-2450m of altitude, enthusiastic mountain bikers, breathtaking views, and delicious local produce made for an amazing long weekend that we won't soon forget.
