Les Perrières Area - A mini Les Gets in the village!
There is a welcome addition to Les Gets ski resort. As the village expands, encompassing new chalets and apartments, a ‘mini’ Les Gets has emerged.
The benefit of this area is that all the facilities can be reached on foot or by bus and Chalets1066 has a number of fabulous self catered chalets and apartments in the Les Perrières area, including the Chalet de l’Alpe apartments, situated above the Sherpa supermarket, Chalet Talini, a short walk to the ski lift, and Chalet Ferme des Amis, a beautifully renovated farmhouse conveniently situated across from the bus stop servicing the area. This year, we have 3 new addition in the Perrières area, 2 beautiful apartments in Chalet La Delys and last but not least, Chalet Sans Souci - where you can ski right to the back door from the Les Perrières lift.
Facilities in the area:
A ticket office is conveniently located in front of the lift area if you have chosen not to have your ski passes delivered directly to your door. The free Les Gets village shuttle bus service is a great way to get to the slopes if you are not in the mood for driving, or have opted to have a car free holiday. The shuttle also runs a very regular service to the village and back (every 5 minutes during the peak weeks).
Located opposite the parking area, across the wooden foot bridge, is the Perrières Ski Pro Shop, a locally owned business that has everything required for a ski holiday. Take a look at their online store for deals and discounts and both rental and purchase options for all your ski holiday needs. This warm and friendly store has very competent staff with local knowledge of the pistes and what equipment is best for a great ski holiday. They offer an overnight service to ensure that your skis are in tip top condition, as well as a storage option if you prefer not to lug your equipment home at the end of a long day on the slopes.
The shop also runs a small snack bar that provide refreshments and the sunny patio is a great place to relax. It is also possible to rent snow shoes and sledges, both these options are perfect for non-skiers and there are a number of trails close by with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.
Restaurants and supermarket:
The locally owned Sherpa supermarket is a stone’s throw from the parking area and the freshly baked patisserie and bread makes it a firm favourite with locals and visitors alike. Their wine and beer section is very well stocked with both local and regional wines, the cheese counter is packed with local cheeses and you can rent both Fondue and Raclette equipment, as well as stock up on all the ingredients required. A new online shopping feature allows you to shop and collect your goods once you arrive in the resort.
The Les Perrières neighbourhood has a couple of restaurant choices. La Fruitières des Perrières is a three in one, a cheese factory, a restaurant and a cheese shop. The old vaulted cheese cellar now hosts the restaurant offering local produce and all things cheesy. There are guided tours of the cheese factory every Wednesday at 10am, a welcome break from skiing or an outing for non skiers. They also rent out all the equipment required for fondue and raclette.
There is also the restaurant A La Bonne Franquette situated in the hotel of the same name, once again within easy walking distance. Last but not least is the local bar at the Le Chinfrey Hotel, just across from the Sherpa supermarket. A taste of local colour as the bar is home to local folk and is not at all touristy. The sixties decor is unchanged and the atmosphere is very authentic.
New this year !
ESF ski school has openned a new option starting this winter season to have lessons (gold and bronze star only) starting at the Les Perrières express lift. This will alleviate the need to traipse into the village for ski school. This trial run will operate from February 9th 2020 till the 6th March 2020, one of the busiest times in resort due to school holidays. This service will also ensure that there is not too much of a back log in the village and will allow guests staying on the outskirts of the village to avoid the crowds.
A new blue run, Les Trembles, allows for easier access back to the base for moderate skiers. This run will have snow making machines at the start and finish of the run so the snow conditions will always be optimum and the way the piste is designed allows the less experienced skiers to enjoy a long ride back to the base without having to tackle the existing steeper red run.
All in all, this developing neighbourhood is waiting to be discovered. Get away from the crowds in the village and have easy access to the pistes within an easy walk of your accommodation.
