What do you do in the alps other than skiing? Wednesday, 06 January 2016
What do you do in the alps other than skiing? Every ski holiday almost resembles a second christmas but as 2015 is over I am here to explain that the alps is not all about christmas and new year. There are so many events going on in Les Gets in the next few months santa will be a faint memory come your arrival in resort.
We aren't just using the snow for skiing, we exploit the white stuff for everything it has to offer.
Next weeks big event being the La Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont-Blanc. I know, the name alone sounds impressive. It is the biggest stage race in the world. The dog sledding is intended for the experienced mushers as the top 25 will compete over two weeks over 800 miles. Day and night, the track leads crews in 25 ski resorts between Savoie and Haute-Savoie. It is something not to be missed and such a spectacular event you’ll be spell bound with the skill these mushers and their hairy team possess to work as a pack. Watch the video opposite to see how exciting this is .
But that is not all Les Gets has to offer this January, pair up with your fellow snow boarder (or skier if you're a boarder) and grab a vest, as you'll not want to miss the big Alpine Battle on the 30th of January. There are routes for everyone, separating into beginner and experienced courses, teams battle for the quickest times. Naturally, with every race there will be awards and snacks for participants. Sign ups are on the Les Gets website. So happy New Year and remember January isn’t all about resolutions to become the new you...unless your resolutions are to have more fun in the snow. Because we’ve got that covered.
