Winter in Les Gets
Les Gets is a wonderful place to stay in winter, the village is beautiful, it is a member of 'Famillie Plus' ski resorts - as being very family friendly, there are many events, and the resort is high enough for good snow without being too high and bleak. Les Gets is regularly reviewed in the press, the latest article is with the Telegraph - click here.
In winter, Les Gets is a very traditional mountain village, in the centre of the village there is an ice skating rink - which is usually busy when people come off the slopes, there are many good restaurants, boutique shops and of course ski equipment shops who also hire equipment. As Les Gets is family based, the prices are very reasonable for a ski resort.
There are many activities through the winter: there is a Father Christmas just outside the Marie from just before Christmas to just before New Year.
Les Gets hosts many events through the ski season, these usually include:
• Eboule/Freestyle skiing competition
• Music Festivals - held at different locations acrocc the Portues du Soleil including Les Gets.
• Snowboarding competitions - in recognition of Ms Anthoniaz gaining a Silver in the Olympics
Les Gets is part of the Portues du Soleil, with some 650km piste - one of the largest ski areas in the world. For someone new to skiing, with the local ski pass there are plenty of slopes on your door step, for the more experienced skier, access to Avoriaz is quick via the Les Folliets ski lift.
Les Gets has a wide range of small and large, French and English ski schools. These cater from 4 years old, to professional race or instructor training.
Non skiing activities
For those who want a break from skiing there is:
